Data quality

Score every product in your catalogue on data quality

Thin product data is the cheapest problem to fix and the easiest to ignore.

Two products can both be approved and only one of them can compete. The difference is the depth of the record behind it. Webshop Vitals scores each product on completeness, specificity and uniqueness, then shows you the weakest records in the catalogue so effort goes where it changes an outcome.

The problem

Approved is not the same as competitive

Approval is a floor, not a goal. A product with a five word title, a manufacturer boilerplate description and no identifier will pass review and then lose every query to a competitor whose record actually describes the item.

  • Titles that are shorter than the queries people type
  • Descriptions copied identically across a whole range
  • Whole categories with no brand or identifier data
  • Products that serve rarely and convert attention poorly

What we check

Inside the product data quality score

Every check below runs on your real store and reports findings you can act on, with the affected products named.

  • Title depth

Length, specificity and whether the title carries brand, model and the attributes shoppers search by.

  • Description uniqueness

Duplicate and near duplicate text across products, which flattens a whole range.

  • Attribute coverage

How many of the fields that matter for the category are actually populated.

  • Identifier presence

Brand, GTIN and MPN, checked together because they are judged together.

  • Image quality signals

Whether a real product image exists and resolves, and whether extra images are provided.

  • Per product score

A single number per item so a catalogue of thousands can be sorted worst first.

How it works

Three steps from question to answer

No plugin to install, no code to add, and nothing to change on your store.

  1. 1

    Extract every record

Product data is read from your pages, your markup and your feed where available.

  2. 2

    Score each dimension

Completeness, specificity and uniqueness are scored separately so the weak axis is visible.

  3. 3

    Sort worst first

The catalogue is ordered by opportunity, and exportable so the work can be shared.

The report

What this check looks like in your dashboard

Findings land next to the score they moved and the products they affect, so a result always has somewhere to go next.

What you get

What changes after the first scan

Concrete outputs, not a grade with no next step.

  • The weakest hundred products in your catalogue, listed worst first
  • A concrete list of missing fields per product rather than a vague grade
  • Duplicate description clusters that flatten a whole range
  • A score you can track upward over time

Questions

Product Data Quality Score questions, answered

The things merchants ask before they run their first scan.

A title that reads like the query. Brand, then the product, then the attributes that distinguish it, such as size, colour, volume or model. The generic advice about keyword stuffing is wrong. Specificity is what matches, and the audit measures specificity rather than length alone.
